The Bigger Thing

I believe in something bigger than me, whether it's nature or the universe, or Tengri, or the Dao, or an unknowable god. I suppose not having an answer is good daoism. Once I name the bigger thing, it becomes smaller in the mind. So, I'll just have to go on not knowing what it is I believe in!

I'm not proposing ignosticism; a concept of the higher power is in principle meaningful. Neither am I proposing ietsism, because I don't require this power to be transcendent. It's just that even ascribing a good name to the Dao is intractible given our squishy little human brains. Better to never settle on a single idea, but rather always be approaching from a new angle. Is that a form of ecclectisism?, an embrace of the ineffable?, does it matter?
